Gallery Gift Shop
a retail outlet for memorabilia, recordings, films or books of
Canadian Classical artists for tourists and fans which doesn't exist
currently in Toronto.
Celebrating Canada's wealth of great performing artists in the
classical music and ballet fields, memorabilia will be displayed
to promote public awareness of the wealth of our past, present and
future artists. Tourists and fans will have an opportunity to purchase
items as souvenirs. All funds will in turn support the Career
Development Centre.
Two Prominent Canadian artistis - have donated their personal music
libraries to the International Resource Centre for Performing Artists.
These collections contain not only the singers' markings, but also
those of famed conductors, and in some cases hand-written annotations
of the composers, including Puccini. In this way, important musical
traditions are passed from one generation to artists of another.
These heritage scores will give artists open access to the traditions
they need to advance their careers. These collections will form
the basis of a reference library accessbile to all performing artists
of classical music. The library will also be open to fans and tourists.

"It is obvious that their training has a good
foundation. And I was glad to be able to move them beyond their
training. As I mentioned in my interview with CFMX, I don't know
of any other program that is as complete as the one you have devised.
As you know, in New York there are several attempts at one facet
or another, but I have not seen anything so complete and so personally
considerate for the young artists' needs"

"I know of no organization that so completely
gives singers the professional direction they need."
--Joan Dornemann, Metropolitan Opera

Clarice Carson
"I have always been vitally
interested in the nurturing of talented young Canadian singers and
know only too well how important it is to learn the skills to perform
well and build self-confidence. A program such as this will go a
long way in helping to achieve these goals." - Maureen
Forrester
"As I treasured the experience of my past
generation, I hope opera and concert performers will treasure and
benefit from my notations and those of my teachers and coaches."
- Clarice Carson
