Cuarteto Latinoamericano (Brilliant Classics no.6634)

Lobos's 17 string quartets represent an important if little-known side of the Brazilian composer's variable output. If you know him only from such popular works as the "Bachiana Brasileira", you owe it to yourself to explore his accessible and richly melodic quartets, full of sinewy count of aromatic suggestions of the Brazilian rain forest. The Latin-American Quartet recorded the cycle for Dorian label in the late 1990's; those fine recordings are now reissued under Brilliant Classics"
