STEPHEN HARLAND Lyric Tenor
A frequent performer across Canada, spanning Toronto, Montreal, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland, where performances include Handel’s Messiah with the Montreal Symphony, Symphony Nova Scotia, the London Fanshawe Symphonic Chorus, where he also performed the Mozart Requiem, Honegger’s Le Roi David, Bach’s Mass in B Minor and Mendelssohn’s Elijah. Other oratorio performancers includeHaydn’s Creation with the Newfoundland Symphony, Mozart’s Coronation Mass with Toronto’s Amadeus Choir, conducted by Lydia Adams, with whom he also performed Mozart’s Vesperae Solennes de Confessione and Litaniae. Handel’s Solomon with Chorus Niagara under the direction of Robert Cooper, with whom he also performed Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Bach’s Manificat with the Bel’Arte Singers, and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Noel Edison conducting. Mr. Harland’s operatic experience has included the Toronto Operetta Theatre’s productions of Johann Strauss’s A Night in Venice,in the role of the worldly Duke ofUrbino. Mozart’s Requiem and operatic excerpts with Orillia’s Cellar Singers under the direction of Albert Greer, Opera in Concert’s Nabucco in the role of Ismele, as Tony in Berstein’s West Side Story, as Carlo in Donizetti’s Linda Di Chamonix, Rodolfo in Puccini’s La Boheme, Des Grieux in Massenet’s Manon, and a celebration of Gilbert and Sullivan with the Toronto Philharmonia conducted by Kerry Stratton.
